Avoid Feeding Your Pet These 5 Holiday Treats

They say sharing is caring, but not when it comes to holiday snacks and sweets. The same things that we humans love to eat could wreak havoc on your pets body. This holiday season, avoid feeding your pets these foods

 1. Chocolate

From Halloween candy to bite-sized Christmas treats, its quite impossible to pass the holidays without a chocolate bar in sight. While you can indulge in a few bites guilt-free, your pet most certainly cant. Chocolate is among the most toxic treats to feed your cats or dog.

2. Macadamia Nuts

To us humans, macadamia nuts are a savory surprise in holiday treats. To our pets, however, theyre an insidious nightmare. These high-fat nuts easily upset the stomachs of cats and dogs, even leading to serious health complications if eaten in large quantities.

3. Yeast

Just as your oven helps bread to rise, your pets stomach will cause yeast to expand, too. But the ending wont be a doughy delightitll be more like a downright nightmare. Yeast can cause bloating and even ruptured stomachs in animals, so make sure to keep proofing dough out of reach.

 4. Turkey Skin

Subjectively speaking, turkey skin could be the best or worst part of the traditional Thanksgiving dish. Objectively, though, its downright damaging for your furry friend. Turkey skins high fat content mixed with pet-toxic marinades like salt and butter are a dangerous combination.

5. Onions and Garlic

Its easy for you to sneak in some extra mouth watering appetizers before your main meal, and it could be just as tempting to share the deliciousness with your pet. Think twice, though, because they wont digest them well, especially if they contain onions and garlic.

If youre concerned your pet may have eaten something dangerous, dont hesitate to contact your local veterinarian as soon as possible. Your veterinarian can provide immediate care and guide you toward healthier food choices to round out your pets diet.
