Use Pet Appreciation Week as an Excuse to Pamper Your Pet

Pet Appreciation Week (PAW) is a holiday created by the American Veterinary Medical Association to raise awareness on caring for pets health, happiness, and safety. This year, PAW is from June 4-10, and you can use it as an excuse to pamper your pet! Here are some fun ways you can celebrate PAW with your pet.

Throw a Party with Snacks & Games

If your pet loves to play, socialize, and be lavished with attention, you should throw him a party in honor of Pet Appreciation Week. Invite your family, friends, and their pets over as well. Prepare special pet-friendly snacks and treats, and organize fun games or activities for everyone to play. Consider a ball pit, kiddie pool, maze, slide, or other pet-friendly fun.

Buy Him a New Toy or Accessory

Another fun way to celebrate your pet and show him how much he means to you is to buy him a new toy. If he doesnt really play with toys, get him a new accessory. If you have a bird, ferret, rabbit, or rodent, consider a new tunnel, perch, chew toy, or exercise wheel. If you have a cat, get him a cat tree or scratching post. Think of something that stimulates his mind and offers enrichment.

Spend Quality Time Together

You can also just use Pet Appreciation Week as an excuse to spend extra quality time with your pet. Cuddle on the couch, take a long walk together, visit the dog park, or schedule some extra playtime. The best way to show your pet how much you care is to give him your undivided attention.

Schedule a Checkup with the Veterinarian

Pet Appreciation Week is also a good reminder to schedule your pets annual visit to the veterinarian. The veterinarian will make sure your pet is healthy, happy, and safe. They will assess his diet, nutrition, and weight and make sure his vaccinations and medication are up to date. They can also screen your pet for illness and disease.

Call your veterinarian today to schedule an annual checkup for your pet.
