Vaccinations and Wellness Care
To maintain your pet's good health, we recommend regular wellness appointments with your veterinarian. Regular examinations are an important aspect of preventive veterinary care. During your pet's appointment, the veterinarian will check your pet thoroughly, noting any abnormalities, signs, or symptoms of illness. Our wellness appointments are designed to help your veterinarian focus on changes in health and behavior that may have been otherwise unnoticeable. Wellness appointments include: Comprehensive nose to tail exam; internal parasite testing; vaccination review and administration; heartworm and flea control; diet recommendations; and any recommended labwork. We offer your pets the same quality of care you would expect from your own doctors. To provide the level of care and monitoring your pet deserves, we limit our anesthetic procedures to 2 to 4 each day Monday – Friday. Before we administer anesthesia all pets receive a physical exam by the surgeon and have a CBC performed. Your doctor may recommend additional pre-anesthetic labwork as this can provide valuable insight into your pet's health. Your pet will never be without a fully trained surgical technician by their side while under anesthesia and during recovery. Consultation appointments with your surgeon may be arranged ahead of time to help explain the procedures. For more information on our surgical procedures, click here.
In any emergency, seconds count. Please bring your pet in immediately in event of an emergency. Our experienced team is here to help you and your pet when you most need it. Emergency care is offered during regular business hours. In addition, we recommend the services of a local emergency center whenever we ourselves cannot be there to help. VCA Animal Emergency Clinic Southeast at Calder Road can be contacted any time we aren’t here, Monday-Thursday 6:00pm – 8:00am and Friday 6:00pm – Monday 8:00am as well as any major holidays. They can be reached at 800-356-3692 For information on emergency services, click here.
Labwork is a means of checking your pet’s internal functions in a non-invasive manner. These diagnostic services can often reveal developing problems before your pet has begun to show symptoms. We recommend routine labwork to establish baselines and allow for early detection of disease in older patients. We also recommend periodic labwork during maintenance medication courses. We perform a wide variety of tests in our in-house lab for same day results. Outside labwork is typically processed through Idexx Laboratories with results often received within days.

Qualified technicians alongside our team of doctors will monitor your pet’s vitals and provide tailored care. Daily exams and evaluation of treatment will be performed to assure the proper care for your pet is maintained. Whether it’s post surgical, a transfer from the emergency room, or illness discovered during an exam, your pet will receive the special care it deserves while in our hospital.
Veterinary patients feel pain and discomfort under the same circumstances as people do, though studies show that often they do not exhibit this pain around their owners. We understand that recognizing and alleviating pain in our patients is the essence of quality health care. Our doctors will work closely with you to find the right treatment plan to help make your pet more comfortable.
UltraSound and Radiology
The non-invasive, state-of-the-art technology in ultrasounds directs sound waves in order to painlessly examine specific internal organs, primarily the heart and abdominal organs. Radiology – or X-rays – help our veterinarians evaluate muscular-skeletal, cardiovascular(cardiopulmonary), gastrointestinal, reproductive and urinary systems. These important diagnostic tools help our doctors determine the proper course of treatment for your pets ailments.
Or team of doctors offer care in many areas of internal medicine, including: Cardiology; Ophthalmology; Neurology; Dermatology; Gastroenterology; Oncology; and Endocrinology; among others. Our doctors often consult with board certified specialists to help ensure the health and continued care of your pet. We may refer your beloved pet to a specialist if further focused care would be beneficial. We work with several specialists in the Houston area.
Dental disease typically begins when a thick, sticky plaque builds up on the teeth and hardens to form a cement-like tartar. In our pets, when this tartar is not removed, the teeth under it begin to decay, causing further damage. Regular professional cleaning is important to maintaining your pet’s oral health. We now proudly offer dental radiology, one of the most important diagnostic tools in veterinary dentistry. X-rays prior to your pets dental will allow our team to "see" the inside of your dogs teeth and the areas below the gum-line that are hidden from view.
Microchips have helped reunite thousands of pets with their families. We use HomeAgain microchips that can be easily placed while your pet is here for any routine appointment! By microchipping your pet, you help improve the chance that they are reunited with your family should they ever attempt to make the great escape!

All of our boarding kennels are indoors and are air-conditioned and heated. Separate boarding facilities are provided for cats and dogs, to help relieve any stress. Our team is trained to medicate your pets if needed and adhere to any special dietary needs they may have. Dogs have access to our backyard several times a day to stretch their legs and cats get to climb around in a special “Cat Condo” of their own, with multiple levels and optional hatches between cages.
