Is Your Pet’s Unwanted Behavior Normal?

Its normal for pets to occasionally act out and behave badly. But if your pets bad behavior is unfixable, getting worse, or becoming dangerous, then you need to find out whats going on under the surface. Here is a look at some abnormal displays of bad behavior in pets and what you can do to address them.

Constant Howling, Whining, or Barking

Occasional vocalization is completely normal in pets, and as a pet owner, you can usually tell pretty easily why your pet is barking, howling, or whining. But if your pet is constantly vocalizing and you dont know why, it could be a sign of illness, injury, or a serious emotional problem like depression, fear, or anxiety. You should consult your veterinarian to find out the underlying cause of your pets behavior.

Extreme Aggression or Fear

If your pet is acting extremely fearful or aggressive with no obvious cause, there may be something serious going on. Your pet may be injured or ill, feel insecure in his environment, or need specialized training to modify his behavior before it worsens. A veterinarian or experienced trainer should be able to provide some insight into your pets behavior.

Frequent Lunging or Biting

Frequent lunging, biting, and scratching in a non-playful way is abnormal behavior that should be addressed right away. Your pet may be feeling insecure, anxious, or fearful, or could be acting out because he is sick or injured. You should take him to a veterinarian for a check up and to see if there is an underlying cause for your pets behavior.

If you think your pet is displaying abnormal bad behavior, it could be that hes experiencing a health issue. You should visit your veterinarian for a full health evaluation and checkup.
